Pair faces gun charges after YPD responds to fight call

YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were booked into the Mahoning County jail Saturday on weapons charges after police found them with guns while answering a fight call on the East Side.

Dai’ryon Mitchell, 20 and Lakeelan Brown, 18, both of West Evergreen Avenue, are both expected to be arraigned today in municipal court.

The pair were arrested after police were called about 3:35 p.m. Saturday to a fight in the 500 block of Cassius Avenue. Reports said witnesses told police Mitchell was threatening someone with a gun.

When officers arrived they found Mitchell and Brown sitting in an SUV. When they questioned Mitchell they found a handgun with an extended magazine on the seat of the SUV where he was sitting.

Reports said police could see the butt end of a handgun sticking out of Brown’s pants, which was a .38-caliber revolver which was reported stolen, reports said.
