Hundreds savor Serbian culture at annual Youngstown festival


Serbian Day Picnic

YOUNGSTOWN

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., will host the 85th Annual Serbian Day Picnic of Youngstown from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The event originally took place at Idora Park and was later moved to the church grounds and hall. There will be several varieties of traditional foods available for sale, live musical entertainment in the hall and pavilion, games and activities for children and plenty of refreshments.

Spirituality classes

CANFIELD

Ursuline Sister of Youngstown Eileen Kernan will host a series of women’s spirituality classes on keeping a journal. Participants will gather at the Motherhouse, 4250 Shields Road, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Sept. 7.

Bring supplies to journal with. The sessions are free, but goodwill offerings will be accepted. Call 330-799-4941 for reservations.

Abundant Life plans August Overflow

NEW WATERFORD

For the ninth-consecutive year, Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 State Route 46, will be passing out school supplies and clothing, serving grill food, distributing fresh produce and offering bounce houses and other children’s games during August Overflow.

The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. next Saturday. The school-supply distribution is specifically for students in Crestview, Columbiana (including Heartland Christian), Leetonia, East Palestine, Lisbon, Beaver Local districts and for home-schooled students in those districts, as well as members of the five churches in the Crestview district.

They are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and there is no pre-registration. For questions, contact the church office at 330-457-7317.

God’s Quad concert
