COLT 15-U EAST ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP

Knightline 13, Greensboro White 8

Knightline 11, Kempsville, Va. 6

GREENSBORO, N.C.

Youngstown Knightline avoided elimination with two victories Friday. Curtis Houser had three hits, including two doubles, in the locals’ win over Greensboro White. Jared Bajerski singled and doubled and John Ritter. Jake Bacon and Christian Meyers each singled twice. Youngstown Knightline weathered a two-hour rain delay and the game itself took 3 1/2 hours to play, according to manager Tommy Otto, as both teams dealt with the effects of a small strike zone. Later in the day, Bobby Cavalier tripled twice and Bajerski added two singles as Youngstown Knightline again rolled to a victory. Garrett Milhalik came on in relief after the locals’ starting pitcher walked the bases loaded. Youngstown Knightline trailed 3-1 after the first inning, but Milhalik pitched the rest of the game and his team in it until their bats took over. “Garrett settled in and gave us an opportunity to win the game,” Otto said. Youngstown Knightline must win twice today to stay alive and reach the finals Sunday. The tournament winner qualifiers for the Colt World Series next week in Indiana.
