Sixth-grade students at Canfield Village Middle School participated in the tradition of the school’s annual Field Day to celebrate the end of the school year on June 1. The students, grouped by class, played games and ran relays to compete for the winner’s trophy.

CVMS teacher Mike Richards led the students in their competitions. The score was kept throughout the competition to determine the winning team.

Each team was assigned a team color and team members wore that color T-shirt to show team unity.

Teams were split into boys and girls and then Richards had the students participate in such games as the over-the-shoulder ball toss, hula hoop relay, scoop ball relay, a sack race, a full-field relay race, wall toss and finally, tug-of-war.

With tough competition, Judy Parsons’ class came out on top of the tug-of-war battle.

With the scores tallied, Sara Dysert’s class was named champion and Loraine Stanfar’s class was named runner-up.
