Hilltop Elementary School fourth-grade student Karley Gerst was named an honorable mention winner in the Ohio Schools magazine Create a Cover Contest.
Hilltop’s Physical Education teacher, Linda Magyar, sent in 38 entries to the annual design competition, with Gerst’s earning honorable mention in the kindergarten through fourth-grade division.
All winners were published in the June 27 issue of “Ohio Schools” magazine, with the grand prize appearing on the cover.
The contest is open to all students enrolled in grades K-12 in public schools in Ohio. The theme of the contest the students were to focus on was ‘What I like most about my school.’ Gerst focused on physical education.
Gerst was awarded a Barnes and Noble gift card, a certificate, a thank-you letter and a copy of Ohio Schools magazine.
Magyar announced Gerst’s accomplishment at Hilltop’s fourth-grade graduation and awards ceremony on June 6.
