NEWTON FALLS

A Mantua man has been indicted on four counts of felonious assault, accused of driving his pickup truck into his brother’s vehicle in May, risking injury to his brother, an infant and two juveniles.

Michael A. Harvey, 23, of Mennonite Road, will be arraigned today in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on the charges. If convicted, he could get more than 30 years in prison.

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office was called at 7:56 p.m. May 18 to the 2500 block of South Canal Street in Newton Township, where deputies found skid marks, smashed mailboxes and debris.

Harvey’s brother, 22, of Newton Falls advised deputies that Harvey drove up behind them on Canal and side-swiped his vehicle, then got in front and hit his brakes, trying to cause an accident. Both vehicles spun out on the road.

Harvey’s brother said the dispute had to do with Harvey’s ex-girlfriend.

In addition to Harvey’s brother, the victim’s 6-month-old daughter was in his truck as were two males, both 17, of Newton Falls. No one was injured.

A woman in another vehicle witnessed the incident, deputies said.

Deputies found Harvey a short distance away and arrested him.
