POLAND
July 20
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 1900 block of South Hubbard Road was found with damage to its hood, front end and several doors. The damage estimate was $1,000.
July 22
Theft: An elderly Clingan Road woman reported four gift cards stolen.
July 24
Identity fraud: A Shetland Lane woman found out her credit-card information and identity had been compromised.
BOARDMAN
July 20
Arrest: Police at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital arrested Tyler J. Carnahan, 25, of Waseka Lane, Boardman, on a charge of inducing panic. Earlier this month, authorities had responded to a report of a suspicious male, who admitted having used heroin, a report stated.
Theft: Sean P. Keane, 32, was charged with theft and possession of criminal tools after three or four Nintendo games were stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Keane, of Audley Avenue, New Castle, Pa., also had a knife used to cut the packaging, police alleged.
Domestic violence: Gerald T. Aaron Jr., 44, of South Avenue, Boardman, faced two domestic-violence counts after a woman who lives at the residence alleged he had shoved her into a porch fence and slapped her face during an argument. Aaron also threatened to kill everyone in his family, causing the accuser and another person to fear for their safety, a report showed.
Possible theft: A man reported a green card had been lost or stolen from his Halbert Drive residence.
Workplace theft: Austintown police handed to township authorities Gary L. Faidley, 29, of Fairview Road, Youngstown, who was wanted on a theft charge, related to a Feb. 28 situation in which a manager with Zumiez, a store in Southern Park Mall, alleged her assistant manager had intentionally failed to deposit $710 from the business into a bank after his shift. Faidley also was wanted on a Youngstown Municipal Court bench warrant.
Arrest: A traffic stop near West Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of Glenn M. Mosley, 53, of East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Liberty Township warrant charging domestic violence. He also was charged with obstructing official business when, officers alleged, Mosley admitted having lied about his name because of the warrant.
Theft: A Centreville, Va., woman reported her wallet stolen while shopping at a Boardman-Poland Road big-box store.
Felonious assault: While responding to a large fight near Melbourne and Glendale avenues, authorities charged Hung M. Tran, 45, of Bluebird Drive, Boardman, with felonious assault and operating a vehicle impaired after a woman reported her boyfriend was struck in the head with a hammer Tran reportedly retrieved from his car after having become angered while at a Glendale Avenue residence during a cookout. Police recovered the hammer and a woman’s shoe with blood on it as evidence, a report showed.
Theft: An undisclosed sum of money was missing from a cash register at Little Caesar’s Pizza, 68 Boardman-Poland Road.
Breaking and entering: Someone cut a chain-link fence and entered Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive, before stealing $987 worth of outdoor power equipment.
Theft: A woman discovered $400 missing from her Lake Shore Drive home.
July 21
Theft: An undisclosed amount of money was reported missing from a counter area at Westgate Pizza, 8600 Glenwood Ave.
Menacing: A worker with a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant alleged a co-worker threatened to harm her, and that the co-worker sent the accuser at least six threatening text messages.
Theft: A Windsor Road man noticed $2 missing from his vehicle.
Arrest: After responding to a car crash on U.S. Route 224, police charged Thomas A. McLelland, 61, with operating a vehicle impaired. The Stow man registered a 0.224 blood-alcohol content, which is nearly three times Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.
Theft: A $1,500 electronic tablet, a wireless mouse, a briefcase and a phone charger were removed from a car in the 90 block of Jennette Drive.
Thefts: Nine residents on Jennette and Shadyside drives reported car break-ins after several of the vehicles had been ransacked. Missing property included $27 and a cellphone charger.
Scam: A Glenwood Avenue woman told police she received a message, after her computer had been frozen, instructing her to call a number to have repairs made. The victim reportedly paid $299 before realizing it was a scam.
Criminal mischief: A West Parkside Drive woman told police someone had placed three cucumbers in her mailbox and positioned them in a manner that frightened her.
Theft: A Canfield woman reported a man in a white tank top and tan shorts stole her purse as she placed items she had bought from a Boardman-Poland Road store into her vehicle.
Theft: An employee for a Southern Park Mall store noticed a cellphone and its case missing from atop a cash register while at work.
July 22
Citation: After pulling over a car near West Midlothian Boulevard, officers issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Nikko A. Viera, 20, of Mathews Road, Boardman, with having a bag containing 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana that police say Viera admitted was his.
Criminal damaging: A Youngstown woman noticed her vehicle’s keyhole was damaged while she was at a Tiffany Boulevard motel, apparently after someone had tried to enter the car.
Theft: Three women reportedly left in a silver vehicle after having stolen three transfer switches for a generator from Lowe’s.
Domestic violence: Terry D. Marks, 53, of Erskine Avenue, Boardman, faced a felony charge after his girlfriend alleged Marks tossed a plate at her during a fight. The victim was found with dried blood on her face and nose, police said.
Theft: Annette B. Tellington, 26, of West Dewey Avenue, and Gracie L. Rollins, 30, of Ferndale Avenue, faced theft charges. The two Youngstown women were accused of stealing a $13 pair of shorts from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: A man reported a $400 handgun stolen from his apartment in the 5200 block of West Boulevard.
Menacing: A Ferncliff Avenue woman saw that someone had used colored chalk to write on an adjoining driveway taunting messages that she thought were directed at her and her teenage son.
Menacing: A manager with a South Avenue car wash reported a belligerent customer threatened him after having been angered that his rearview mirror was damaged during the course of the wash.
Assault/criminal damaging: A Canfield man alleged that while at a friend’s Millcreek Drive residence, his former girlfriend punched him several times in the face and damaged the accuser’s iPhone.
July 23
Theft: A Terrace Drive man noticed a wallet, $30 and other small items missing from his vehicle.
Assault: While investigating a report of someone having pounded on a window at a Hopkins Road home, police reported that after spotting the suspect, he led them on a foot pursuit, then punched an officer in the face several times and kicked him as the victim tried to arrest the man on whom authorities had to use a stun gun. The officer complained of dizziness as well as tightness and pain in his neck and back. No information on the man was in the report, however.
Theft: A man reportedly stole two couch covers valued at $80 from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.
Menacing: A Shields Road man alleged a former co-worker who may have damaged his vehicle earlier showed up at his apartment building, causing the accuser to fear for his safety.
Theft: Police charged Jennifer Irby, 52, of Mary Street, Youngstown, and Gloria J. Betts, 59, of Edinburgh Drive, Austintown, in the theft of $491 worth of clothing, food and other merchandise from Walmart.
Auto theft: A 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan was stolen in the 4700 block of Southern Boulevard.
Theft: Breanne N. Lawrence, 24, of South Forest Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with failing to scan $124 worth of household items and a T-shirt while at Walmart.
July 24
Theft: Several vehicles were entered in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue. Small amounts of change and a pair of sunglasses were missing.
Fraud: An official with an East Western Reserve Road data-entry business found out the company had lost about $33,500 as the result of a bogus email.
Theft: A man told police someone had entered a car that belongs to his father, of Oak Knoll Drive. Missing were about $20 in change and a cellphone charger cord.
Theft: A 15-year-old Canfield girl was accused of stealing about $52 worth of property from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Identity theft: A Youngstown woman discovered that while trying to complete a transaction, her stolen debit card had been used without authorization at a store in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, though the fraudulent transaction was declined.
Theft: A man and a woman reportedly left BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, 7327 Market St., without paying their $102.26 food bill.
Fraud: A Tudor Lane woman told authorities a caller who claimed to represent the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department said she had failed to appear for jury duty and would be arrested unless she paid a $1,248 fine. The victim was instructed to buy three money cards, to which she complied, then was told to report to the sheriff’s office, where a deputy informed the woman no one from his office had made such a call.
Theft: Someone in the 700 block of Annawan Lane entered a vehicle and removed an envelope that contained $4,500.
Identity theft: A Valley View Drive man reported checking his bank balance online and discovering someone without permission had used his personal information to buy $1,280 worth of plumbing supplies.
Misuse of a credit card: A New Albany, Ohio, woman at a Tiffany Boulevard motel found four fraudulent transactions totaling $2,000 had been made to her credit card, two of which occurred at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Theft: A man likely in his late teens reportedly stole a $10 box of laundry detergent from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.
July 25
Assault: An employee for a South Avenue restaurant told police an intoxicated man punched his nose and face as the victim tried to intervene on behalf of another person. The inebriated man also had made a series of threats.
Theft: A vehicle was entered in the 800 block of Park Harbour Drive before someone removed about $25.
Theft: Police in the 6200 block of South Avenue took into custody Bobbi T. Olds, 38, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, who was wanted on a theft warrant, related to a U.S. Postal Service investigation of stolen mail at the apartment complex. A neighbor reported never receiving a package that was to have been delivered to her residence.
