Benefit set Sunday for Rescue Mission

A “Music with a Mission” live-band event to raise funds for the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley’s capital campaign to “Move Our Mission” will take place from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Magic Tree Pub & Eatery, 7463 South Ave.

Six local bands and a soloist will perform, and the event includes auctions and fundraisers.

Fully tax-deductible $10 tickets are available at the door. Children under 12 are free.

Volunteer bands performing are Simple Truth, 1-1:50 p.m.; Guys Without Ties, 2:10-3:05; Howard and the Point 5 Band, 3:20- 4:25 p.m.; The Dickey White Band, 4:40 -5:30 p.m.; 80s PROOF, 5:45-6:45 p.m.; and Redline, 7-8 p.m. Peter Crescimanno performs during band changeovers.

Brownlee Woods group sets meeting

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will have its monthly meeting Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. Social and refreshment time will start the evening at 6 p.m. and the business meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.

The speaker will be Tom Hetrick, neighborhood planner for Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. He will explain the Neighborhood Action Plan and how it works.

Brownlee Woods has been working on an action plan for nearly two years and is reportedly having success through the efforts of the YNDC and the residents who are involved in the plan.

Re-accreditation

Catholic Charities Regional Agency has achieved accreditation through the New York-based Council on Accreditation.

Catholic Charities has provided these services to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties since 1946: housing counseling, domestic-violence services, pregnancy support, senior support services, homeless prevention, prison re-entry case management and emergency assistance.

This is the fifth re-accreditation Catholic Charities has achieved over the past 16 years. Organizations pursue accreditation to demonstrate the implementation of best-practice standards in the field of human services.

Burgundi Manor sets Community Day
