Honors
Judge Dellick receives Crystal Heart Award
Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court has received the 2017 Children’s Mental Health Circle of Friends Foundation Crystal Heart Award.
The award is presented annually by the foundation to the individual in the Mahoning Valley, who throughout their philanthropy, work, research or volunteerism “has significantly contributed positively to improving the health and welfare of children with, or at risk, of emotional and behavioral disorders.”
Greg Cvetkovic, foundation president, presented the award to the judge, who has developing community collaborative and specialized programs responding to children involved with the court with mental-health intervention needs.

Classical literature
Paul Jerome Hay has received his doctorate degree in classical literature at the University of Texas in Austin.
He is a 2007 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and his master’s degree at UT-Austin.
Hay has accepted a faculty position in the Classics Department at CWRU and will begin teaching there in August after a monthlong fellowship at the University of Virginia.
He is the son of Jack and Charlene Hay of Poland.
STATE PATROL
Promotion, transfer
Trooper Adam M. Shonk has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred from the Canton Post to serve as an assistant post commander at the Lisbon Post.
Shonk began his patrol career in September 2011 as a member of the 151st Academy Class. He earned his commission in February of the following year and was assigned to the Defiance Post.
Shonk earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mount Union in 2011.
