Lit Youngstown to host 3 poets from region

Lit Youngstown will host three regional poets at its monthly First Wednesday Readers Series Aug. 2 at Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts in downtown Youngstown. The reading, which starts at 7 p.m., will be followed by an open mic hosted by Brandon Noel of the Makeshift Poets of Warren. The reading is free.

The poets, from Pittsburgh and Ashtabula, have published widely in books and journals, and their poetry is available to read online. The featured poets are Jen Ashburn, Roger Craik and Jason Irwin.

Author to speak at health care center

New Middletown

Author Maria Ciletti, a registered nurse, will speak at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center, 5250 Windsor Way, New Middletown, on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. about her book, “I Have to Leave You Now,” a survivor’s guide for families of patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Ciletti writes medical articles, short stories, literary fiction, non-fiction and gay/lesbian fiction. She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association, The Authors Guild, The Golden Crown Literary Society and Romance Writers of America.

2 new Potter books to be out in October

Two new books from the Harry Potter universe are set to be released as part of a British exhibition that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the series launch.

The British Library’s Harry Potter exhibition, “A History of Magic,” opens in October and runs through February 2018.

British publishing house Bloomsbury revealed that two new Potter books will be released in conjunction with the event.

“Harry Potter: A History of Magic – The Book of the Exhibition” promises to take readers through subjects studied at Potter’s wizarding school, Hogwarts. “Harry Potter – A Journey Through A History of Magic” will touch on mystical things such as alchemy, unicorns and ancient witchcraft. Both books will be published in October.
