CLUBS

GROUPS

Metaphysics Study Group meets the last Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Yoga Center, 972 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd., Vienna. Meetings consist of an open forum for discussion of metaphysics, psychic phenomenon and spirituality followed by a meditation and healing circle. D.A.R.E. has scheduled the following activities: 6 p.m. Saturday for Mt. Carmel Festival to listen to “Brotherhood”; 6 p.m. Tuesday for Bocce in Boardman Park; 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for walking at Mill Creek Park Walking Trail; and 7:30 p.m. Thursday for Birthday Night at the church, 565 Boardman Canfield Road, Boardman; and 6 p.m. Friday for music and dinner at Trax’s Lounge, 4250 New Road, Austintown.

SOCIETIES

The Struthers Historical Society, 50 Terrace St., will meet at noon on Aug. 6. Plans for the second Alexander Frankfort Day on Sept. 30 will be discussed. After the meeting, a presentation of “Iron Valley, The Transformation of the Iron Industry in Ohio’s Mahoning Valley, 1802-1913,” will be shown at the Trumbull County Historical Society, 303 Monroe St. NW, Warren. Members who would like to see the presentation are planning to carpool. All members are welcome.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Sheepfold Ministries, 233 North Ave. Sharon, Pa. A meeting also will take place at 7 p.m. at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main Street, Hubbard. The support group was formed to reach out to help families who have lost loved ones to alcohol or substance abuse.

F.O.C.U.S., a breast-cancer support group, will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Cornersburg. All breast-cancer survivors and supporters are welcome. For directions, call the restaurant at 330-799-0033.

Friendship Train 12-Step Support Group meets from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave. People who are trying to overcome any addiction are welcome and encouraged to attend. Those attending should enter through the church’s lower parking lot off Wardle.

NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Support groups meet as follows: Girard Family Support, first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St., and Austintown Family Support Group, 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Alta Care, 142 Javit Court. NAMI Connection, a support group for people with a mental health diagnosis meets at the following locations: 1:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown; 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays at Alta Care in Austintown; and NAMI Connection for the dual diagnosed at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
