Drop in fair attendance

Drop in fair attendance

BAZETTA

Attendance at the Trumbull County Fair that ended Sunday appears to have dropped by about 9 percent over last year.

Tom Sawyer, a county fair board member, said specific attendance numbers for Tuesday through Saturday and an estimate for Sunday gives the fair a total of 40,478 people, compared with 44,688 in 2016.

Sawyer said the good weather Saturday and Sunday helped offset uncertainty about the weather earlier in the week.

Rain was forecast for last Monday through Friday, which may have hurt attendance, but most of that rain didn’t materialize, Sawyer said. A few people were overcome by the heat, but that’s a relatively low number, he added.
