The Poland-Canfield Junior League softball team has advanced to the championship game of the four-team state tournament in South Point. In the first game, Kaili Gross, Brooke Bobbey and Camryn Lattanzio combined to toss a one-hitter with nine strikeouts. Gross had five hits while Lattanzio, Abby Farber, Jordyn Olson and Julia Eich each collected two hits. In the second game, Gross and Bobbey combined on a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Bobbey, Jackie Grisdale and Lexi Diaz each had three hits. Today at 3 p.m., Poland-Canfield will play for the state title against the losers bracket survivor. The state champion will compete in the regional tournament at South Holland, Ill., that begins on Saturday.

Marcus Masters hit a two-run double to lead Metro Ice. Larry Goist had a RBI single and three hits in all. Jake Foster earned the win, tossing six innings and allowing four runs and six hits. He struck out 12. Goist, Masters, Mark Herron and Petrillo each collected multiple hits
