WARREN

Zachary Mechling, 23, of Haymaker Avenue Northwest, is in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $150,000 bond after being arraigned on charges accusing him of shooting at his twin brother and another man.

While investigating a call of shots fired on West Market Street near Southern Boulevard, police interviewed the owner of the vehicle that had been fired upon.

The man had injuries to his face and said his friend, Jacob Mechling, 23, of Youngstown was driving the car near Haymaker Avenue Northwest, and a male came out and fired five shots at them Wednesday.

Jacob Mechling told police the shooting was a “family matter,” and he didn’t want anything done, but police later learned that it involved Zachary Mechling.

Zachary Mechling was arrested Thursday in the bedroom of a home on Haymaker on a probation violation and a stolen firearm was found on the bed.

Zachary Mechling was arraigned Friday in Warren Municipal Court on two counts of felonious assault, one for his twin brother and one for the other man; and single counts of receiving stolen property and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Not-guilty pleas were entered for him. If convicted, he could face about 20 years in prison.
