A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

July 5

Theft: A man reportedly stole four packs of energy drinks from Dollar General, 501 Church Hill Road.

Recovered property: A man found a purse while he was at a U.S. Route 422 car wash.

Possible drug overdose: Police responded to a possible overdose at a Parkview Drive residence, where they reportedly found a man on the kitchen floor who was unresponsive and had a hypodermic needle protruding from his right arm. The man was given four doses of Narcan to reverse or block the effects of opioids before being taken to an area hospital.

July 6

Identity fraud: A Church Hill Road man alleged his former wife had made two unauthorized charges to his credit card that totaled $81.

Aggravated menacing: A Hancock Street woman told officers a man who claimed she owes him $300 had made 12 threatening calls, saying he would shoot her mother if the accuser failed to pay him back.

Drug paraphernalia: An officer reportedly found a hypodermic needle attached to a guardrail in the 20 block of West Main Street before the needle was disposed of.

July 7

Harassment: A North Avenue woman said she’s received unwanted contact regarding money owed to another person.

Theft: A man was reportedly caught on surveillance footage stealing a 19-inch TV from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 713 N. State St.

July 8

Drugs: Police responded to a possible drug overdose at a Beechwood Drive home, then charged Aaron Bevilacqua, 34, of Beechwood, Girard, with possession of drug paraphernalia after alleging he had in a shaving kit a syringe and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use. Bevilacqua was given Narcan before being taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, a report showed.

Harassment: An East Second Street man said his former girlfriend has sent him unwanted text messages.

Assault: Authorities responded to an altercation in the 100 block of West Second Street, where a man reported having been placed in a chokehold.

July 9

Theft: A Krehl Avenue woman discovered $150 had been removed from her purse and that an $800 cellphone was missing after a birthday party at her residence.

Menacing: A Girard woman alleged her 17-year-old son sent and received inappropriate photographs of a woman, who also made threats and claimed to be from another state.

Drugs: Police at Liberty Township Park off Mosier Road charged a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, both of Girard, with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after alleging a portion of suspected marijuana was found, along with a suspected marijuana pipe in a backpack.

July 10

Citation: While answering a fight call on West Liberty Street, police cited Michelle Childers, 34, on a charge of having an open container of alcohol. Childers, of West Liberty, Girard, also was charged with failure to disclose personal information when, authorities alleged, she refused three times to provide her name, Social Security number and proper identification.

Recovered property: Two golf carts were recovered after someone had reportedly driven them off a golf course at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. Charges were pending.

LIBERTY

July 6

Arrest: Police at a Belmont Avenue motel picked up Dorita Walker, 62, of Aravesta Avenue, Boardman, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging her with passing bad checks.

Possible drug overdose: Police responded to a Trumbull Avenue home regarding someone who was not breathing before reportedly finding a man with pale skin who was in and out of consciousness and, after coming to, became hostile and argumentative with medical personnel, all indicators of a possible overdose. The man was taken to Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, and no charges had been filed at the time of the report.

Assault/criminal damaging: A Youngstown woman alleged her boyfriend, of Green Acres Drive, grabbed her face and neck areas, threw her against a wall and to the floor and broke her two cellphones after having become upset about certain text messages on her phone.

Possible child endangering: Authorities received information that a woman struck a child about age 3 in the shoulder area, causing him to stumble, as he began to cry after a door to a Belmont Avenue doctor’s office had closed, hitting his arm.

July 7

Arrest: Marquis Stoutemire, 24, of Harlem Street, Youngstown, was taken into custody after having been pulled over on Belmont Avenue. He was wanted on a township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Drugs: A vehicle check near North Gate Road resulted in the arrest of Jamar Prieto, 37, of Birch Hill Road, Youngstown, on a drug-abuse charge after police alleged Prieto, who also was wanted on a Bazetta Township warrant, had a bag containing several pills determined to be Tramadol, an opioid typically used to treat moderate to severe pain. Also arrested was Richard L. Ditotso, 25, of Jacobs Road, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Campbell warrant.

Recovered property: An officer on routine patrol in the 4600 block of Michigan Boulevard reported finding a seven-speed bicycle, though it had not been reported stolen.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive led to the arrest of Katie M. Slenker, 24, who faced charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Slenker, of Logan Avenue, Youngstown, had a small bag of suspected marijuana and a device commonly used to grind marijuana, police alleged.

July 8

Citations: Officers answered a complaint regarding three intoxicated women at a Goldie Road big-box store before handing minor-misdemeanor citations charging disorderly conduct to Brenda L. Plant, 36, of Roosevelt Drive, Liberty; Melissa M. Deuley, 40, of Boyd Street, Masury; and Christine L. Vernet, 53, of Scott Lane, Girard. After entering the business, the three women became belligerent, and one swore at customers, a report showed.

Aggravated menacing: A Trumbull Court woman alleged her brother’s former girlfriend, 28, and three other people pushed on her apartment door in an effort to enter while the former girlfriend demanded the return of property she claimed belongs to her.

Drugs: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over then charged Debbie L. Fields, 41, with drug abuse. Fields, of Holly Drive, Girard, had a bag of suspected marijuana, a report said.

Weapon: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane led to the arrest of Ashton Owens, 23, of Sunshine Avenue, Youngstown, who was charged with improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, using a weapon while intoxicated and driving under suspension. Owens had a loaded 9 mm handgun and refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police alleged.

July 9

Vehicular assault: While responding to a two-car crash with possible injuries near state Route 304 and Shady Road, authorities charged Christopher J. Edwards, 27, of Tuttle Lane, Girard, with five counts of aggravated vehicular assault, a third-degree felony, and one misdemeanor count each of unauthorized use of a vehicle and operating a vehicle impaired. Five people were hurt, including three who appeared to have suffered serious injuries after the car he was driving without authorization from a relative had hit their minivan; in addition, Edwards registered a 0.263 blood-alcohol content, which is more than three times Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report stated.

Vehicle theft: A Homestead Road man reported a four-wheel motorcycle stolen from his neighbor’s backyard.

HUBBARD

July 5

Domestic violence: Crystal J. Miller, 37, of South Main Street, Hubbard, faced domestic-violence and resisting-arrest charges after a man alleged an intoxicated Miller had placed her hands around his neck while he was in bed, then punched and charged toward the accuser. She also kicked an officer during the arrest, grazing him, a report stated.

Arrest: Authorities charged Daniel P. Root of South Main Street, Hubbard, with violating a protection order after an officer reported having seen Root, 37, within 500 feet of a family member’s apartment, which was in violation of the order.

Identity fraud: A Hubbard woman alleged a 37-year-old family member has stolen money from her bank account by having set up an account with a loan company, in which $96 was taken without authorization from her account each week to pay off the loan.

July 9

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 800 block of West Liberty Street led to the arrests of Charlene C. Herrmann, 33, and Scott T. Herrmann, 35, both of Liberty Avenue, Hubbard, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments after police said three syringes and a suspected heroin kit were found in their vehicle. Also, officers issued a summons charging Donald J. Wike II, 35, of Scott Street, Hubbard, with wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

Drugs: After pulling him over near Rebecca Avenue, police charged Jeffrey J. Watkins, 42, of West Liberty Street, Hubbard, with one felony count each of possession of drugs and cocaine as well as illegal use of food stamps, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia after alleging Watkins had a white powder in the car that tested positive for cocaine, a small bag of suspected marijuana and a pill that was determined to be Tramadol. Watkins also had a Pennsylvania food-stamps card that was in someone else’s name, a report showed.
