Canfield will meet Boardman in the district championship game today at noon on Field L-1 at the Field of Dreams in Boardman. If Canfield wins, a second game will be played to determine the district champion. The winner will play in the state tournaments beginning July 22 in Englewood.

Metro Ice 11, NEO Whoppers 1

Nick Capogreco batted in five runs to help lead Metro Ice. Capogreco drove in runs on a walk in the second, a single in the fourth and a single in the sixth. Nick Zajaczkowski drove in a run when he singled in the first inning. Metro Ice scored five runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Capogreco, a single by Derek Morrison and a single by Jake Foster. DJ Morvay earned the win. He pitched six innings, allowing one run and five hits, and struck out 11.
