Oh Mama! Renegades blank Scrappers for a road loss

FISHKILL, N.Y.

Vidal Brujan had two hits and scored two runs, and Nicholas Padilla allowed just three hits over six innings as the Hudson Valley Renegades topped the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 8-0 on Friday.

Padilla (1-1) picked up the win after he struck out four and walked two.

Hudson Valley scored three runs in the third on a two-run single by Rafelin Lorenzo and an RBI double by Taylor Walls.

The Renegades scored again in the sixth inning, when they scored five runs, including a single by Lorenzo that scored Walls.

James Karinchak (0-1) went 22/3 innings, allowing three runs and three hits in the New York-Penn League game. He also struck out four and walked two.

The Scrappers were held scoreless for the fourth time this season, while the Renegades’ staff recorded their first shutout of the year.

Simeon Lucas went 2-for-3 for Mahoning Valley with a double while Samad Taylor had a single as well.

Nolan Jones had two walks as well. That was the majority of the Scrappers’ offensive output.

In the field, the Scrappers committed three errors compared to none for the Renegades. Jones, Lucas and Taylor each had misplays on defense.

The Scrappers have lost four road contests in a row after sweeping the Brooklyn Cyclones at home.

Mahoning Valley will have two more road contests with Hudson Valley today at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
