A township man was cited for being intoxicated in public after police found him passed out in a stranger’s car.
Police were called to Cook Avenue about 5:30 a.m. Thursday. The caller told police he had found a man, later identified as Ryan D. Wilson, 29, sleeping in his car. When police awakened Wilson, they reportedly observed signs that he was intoxicated.
Wilson told police that he got dropped off at what he thought was his apartment building, which is also on Cook Avenue. Police said Wilson “believed he went into his car and fell asleep.” He was issued a minor misdemeanor citation.
School supplies

The Beatitude House is asking for donations of school supplies in preparation of its annual effort to provide supplies to children in need.
Traditional school supplies are wanted as well as items such as binders, note cards, tissues and hand sanitizer. The ministry also is accepting donations of back packs, lunch bags, shoes, socks and underwear, as well as gift cards that can be used to purchase those items.
People interested in donating should bring items to the Beatitude House administrative offices at 238 Tod Lane in Youngstown or 1370 Tod Ave. in Warren from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 7.
Five minutes with the mayor

The monthly Five Minutes with the Mayor will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the mayor’s office on the first floor of city hall, 26 S. Phelps St. Citizens are invited to stop by and visit with Mayor John A. McNally and to voice any questions or concerns they may have.
Break-in arrest

Mickayla Young, 19, of South Avenue surrendered to township police Wednesday on a warrant for breaking and entering. The charge stems from a March 10 incident in which police were called to a Southern Boulevard apartment.
There, a man told police that the apartment recently had been damaged in a fire and was uninhabitable. He reportedly found that someone had kicked in the door while the apartment was unoccupied and had stolen a $2,000 television.
Road closing
NILES
State Route 46 between McKees Lane and East Third Street will be closed beginning Monday to replace water-system valves. The closure is slated to last for five days. Two-way traffic will be maintained via a detour, and delays should be expected at Route 46.
