Woman charged after television stolen from fire-damaged Boardman apartment
BOARDMAN
A township woman is charged with breaking and entering for purportedly entering and stealing from a fire-damaged apartment.
Charged is Mickayla Young, 19, of South Avenue. Young turned herself in on a warrant Wednesday, according to a police report.
The charge stems from an incident reported March 10, when township police were called to a Southern Boulevard apartment for a reported break-in.
A man told police that the apartment had recently sustained "substantial smoke and fire damage" and was uninhabitable. The person who lived in the apartment reportedly was in a nursing home at the time of the break in and had someone else report the incident.
The reportee told police that he discovered someone had kicked open the apartment door and stolen a television valued at $2,000.
Young was released on bond following her arrest and is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here today for arraignment on the felony charge.
