YURICH TRIAL UPDATE | Yurich drank alcohol but was not impaired, bartender says
YOUNGSTOWN — A bartender who served Dr. Joseph Yurich the night of a fatal boat crash testified in his trial this afternoon.
The state also presented surveillance footage taken at the restaurant that night.
Dr. Yurich, 38, of Poland faces several charges stemming from the fatal boat crash that occurred on Berlin Reservoir just after midnight on May 9, 2015.
Dr. Yurich and his friends are shown entering the restaurant’s bar at 9:47 p.m. and left at 10:51 p.m. In that time, Dr. Yurich consumed two beers and one shot.
The bartender said the shot was a “little beer” which comprises Licor 43 and heavy whipping cream. Licor 43 is 31 percent alcohol-by-volume.
The bartender said Dr. Yurich did not show any signs of being impaired when he left the bar.
This afternoon, the state will call witnesses from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation who analyzed evidence recovered from boats involved in the crash.
