Man arrested on 10 warrants

Township police Friday arrested Brett Young, 30, of East Palestine on 10 warrants.
Young was wanted for eight thefts reported at township businesses between June 22 and July 7, according to police reports. He also was wanted for a July 6 robbery at Home Depot on Southern Boulevard. Additionally, he had an arrest warrant out of Columbiana for failure to appear in court.
Cedrina Toley, 35, of Pittsburgh, who was with him, was arrested and charged with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia. Young was in the Mahoning County jail without bond Monday.
$60K water grant

City officials are considering a $60,000 water grant to Potential Development, a school for autistic children, that is spending $610,000 as part of an expansion effort at 2400 Market St. for its elementary and middle-school students.
Potential Development wants to open the location, the former Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield facility, by September, said T. Sharon Woodberry, director of the city’s community planning and economic development department. Along with the expansion, Potential Development plans to create 39 new jobs over the next three years, Woodberry said.
2 taken into custody

Police took two people into custody after a raid at a South Side home late Monday afternoon. Officers arrested Dawan Williams, 30, and Brittany Fitzgerald, 30, at a home in the 100 block of East Avondale Avenue about 5:30 p.m.
Police charged Williams with possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple counts of drug possession after they said he had suspected cocaine and suspected suboxone. There were also digital scales, suspected fetanyl and suspected Tramadol pills inside the house, according to a police report.
Officers arrested Fitzgerald on a warrant for outstanding traffic violations. There was a child in the home, whom police released to her aunt.
Additionally, there was a pit bull and 10 puppies in the basement. Police turned the dogs over to Animal Charity.
Man shot in hand, leg
WARREN
A 25-year-old city man was treated at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds he suffered to the hand and leg early Monday in the area of Nevada Avenue and Jefferson Street Southwest.
When police responded to that location at 12:04 a.m., they found the man, who said he didn’t know who shot him but said it happened in a front yard. A witness said people got out of two vehicles and chased the victim with a gun, firing at him.
Chains stolen
YOUNGSTOWN
Reports said a 23-year-old man told police he was shot about 5:55 p.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of Hudson Avenue on the South Side after a man walked up to him and took two chains that were around his neck.
Police were called to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for a report of a shooting victim. When they arrived, the man told police he was outside his cousin’s house when a man walked up to him, yanked the chains off his neck and shot him in the hip before running away.
The victim has a warrant from municipal court for public indecency, reports said. There is a police hold on him because of the warrant.
