Three nonprofit organizations that serve Youngstown children with diagnosed disabilities received Hine Fund grants

YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Foundation awarded $858,593 in second-quarter grants.
Eleven area organizations received grants totalling $216,600 through the Foundation’s distribution committee. Also, more than $186,000 was distributed to local non-profits through the Support Fund program.
The grants, which include Hine Memorial Fund recipients and Donor Advised fund distributions, were approved June 13.
Of the 11 grants awarded, three organizations committed to serving Youngstown children with diagnosed disabilities received funds from the Hine Memorial Fund.
AWARDS
Receiving unrestricted fund grants were: Antonine Sisters Day Care, $15,000, facility renovations: Beatitude House, $15,000, House of Blessing renovations; Caf Augustine, $15,000, jobs/skill training program; Canfield Fair Foundation, $50,000, construction of new Junior Fair Coliseum and Event Center; Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley, $25,000, K-12 programs in the Youngstown City School District; Mahoning Valley College Access Program, $8,000, Ohio College Guides program in the YCSD; Mahoning Valley Manufacturer’s Coalition, $15,000 in support of the local Manufacturing Readiness Program; Youngstown CityScape, $20,000, organizational support.
Recipients of Hine grants were: Down Syndrome Association of the Mahoning Valley, $13,600, iCan Shine Bike Camp, a program to teach children with disabilities to independently ride a two-wheel bike; Butler Institute of American Art, $25,000, entrance masonry repairs for handicap accessibility; and Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, $15,000, follow-up for preschool-age children identified as “at risk” through the Amblyopia screening program.
Donor Advised funds collectively distributed $455,993.43 to several 501c3 organizations including: Youngstown State University, Oh Wow! Children’s Center for Science and Technology, Rich Center for Autism at YSU, American Red Cross, Angels for Animals, Salvation Army, Rescue Mission of Mahoning County, Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Youngstown Connection, Stambaugh Auditorium Youth Concert Band, Opera Western Reserve, SMARTS, and WYSU-FM.
