CRAFT SHOWS

Salem Kiwanis will sponsor its 53rd annual antique and craft show from 9 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Park, East Pershing St. and Park Avenue. Admission is free, and this year’s show will feature food vendors and music as well as more than 70 auction items and baskets to be raffled. FAIRS, FESTIVALS

Niles Historical Society will host its Heritage Day from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 5 on the grounds at 503 Brown St. There will be local artisans , crafters, vendors, children’s crafts, food and tours of the Ward Thomas House.

Youngstown American Hungarian Federation will host its annual Hungarian Day Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 6. Advance dinner tickets for chicken paprikash are required by July 30. FUNDRAISERS

Holy Apostles Parish summer picnic fundraiser will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Strossmeyer Picnic Grounds, 4202 Smith-Stewart Road, Vienna. Festivities will begin with an outdoor Mass led by Rev. Joseph Rudjak. Food will be available at noon with barbecued lamb and pork and a bake sale and bar with beverages. There will be raffles, children’s games, a lottery wreath and entertainment. No food or coolers from home will be permitted. Cost is $5 for adults, children under 12 are free. Hubbard Public Library will accept donations of school supplies from July 24 to Aug. 12 for students who would not be able to afford the supplies necessary for back-to-school. All patrons who donate will have any accrued fines on their Hubbard library account waived. Fine-free patrons and community members are encouraged to participate but donations will not be credited for future fines. St. Luke Holy Name Society is planning its ninth annual golf outing for 1 p.m. July 22 at Bedford Trails Golf Course. All proceeds will be used to replace or repair facility equipment. St. Nicholas School will participate in a shoe collection fundraiser through Oct. 1. Rubber band gently used shoes in pairs. The goal is to collect 2,500 pairs, and boxes to donate are located at St. Nicholas and Holy Trinity Church doors.

West Side Cats and All About the Pawz motorcyle run will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Cost is $15 per bike, $5 for a passenger and $10 bike show entry. The Marlboro Volunteers Inc. a military history and educational organization will host the annual “Ride Through History” on Saturday and Sunday north of Alliance, off St. Rt. 225, behind the Tri-Seal Plant, formerly Sancap Liners, 16125 Armour St. The show will feature an arms demonstration, military vehicles, a mobile museum, and vendors selling military items. The VA will be there to talk to veterans. The group has put together a variety of activities.The show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3. Children under 6 are free. Tickets are sold separately for the ride at “Checkpoint Charlie.” The cost for the ride is $5 for anyone over 12, 6 to 12 years old are $3 and under 6 are free. Center for Physical Health will team up with Liv Ambassador and Amy Pagac to offer a free workshop on injury prevention for cyclists on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The class will be led by Marybeth Romeo, licensed physical therapist, at the center, 4137 Boardman-Canfield Rd., Suite 104, Canfield. Salem Historical Society will have a short business meeting at 7 p.m. at the Dale Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy. Parking is available in the Timberlane’s parking lot. The program will feature “The Story of Lotus Ware.” Lotus Ware is considered to be the finest porcelain ever produced in the United States. It was made during the 1890s by East Liverpool’s Knowles, Taylor & Knowles pottery. The program will be presented by Susan Weaver, newly named director of the Museum of Ceramics in East Liverpool. Salem Community Center will present the seventh Women’s Night Out on Sept. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. Women’s Night Out centers around information, products and services for females of all ages who want to learn ways to take better care of their bodies, minds and improve upon their lifestyles. This event is a benefit for the SCC’s children’s fitness center, featuring a vendors marketplace with nearly 60 businesses, buffet dinner provided, spa treatment rooms, bingo, and chair massages. SUMMER FUN

SUMMER CAMP

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is hosting two summer camps at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St. The first summer day camp is set for Monday through Friday, “My Town, Your Town” for age 8 to 12. Participants will explore 10,000 years of history in five days with all new field trips, activities, and camper-driven projects. The second camp, July 24 to 28, is designed for Young Historians age 12 to 15. The campers will dive a bit deeper into local history as they learn what it’s like to be a real historian. They will complete a special project, a website, a video or an exhibit about a local history topic. Both camps run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. TRIPS

AARP 3104 Canfield will host an overnight bus trip to Blennerhassett State Park on the Ohio River Aug. 15 and 16 with a tour of the mansion and grounds.
