WARREN
The committee for Women’s Equality Day met recently to begin planning for the historic day that affects all women in the United States.
On Aug. 26, women across the country will celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment, also known as the Women’s Suffrage Amendment, to the U.S. Constitution. Locally, the day will be remembered in Warren with ceremonies beginning at the Women’s Park on Park Avenue.
The theme is “Turning Point: Night of Terror,” and will be a re-enactment of the National Women’s Party in 1918 on the White House lawn when President Wilson was in office.
The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will follow at the Harriet Taylor Upton House.
It is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Trumbull County, the Harriet Taylor Upton Association, Warren Civic League, GFWC Ohio Warren Junior Women’s League and GFWC Warren City Federation of Women’s Clubs.
