v Summer Festival of the Arts, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Final day for this juried festival on the Youngstown State University campus. Also running in the center-city area is the St. Nicholas Church Greek Summerfest, 220 N. Walnut St., from noon to 6 p.m.

v Israel Houghton and New Breed: The international gospel music star headlines the annual 2DE Gospel Festival on Central Square, downtown. The Singing Shepherds will also perform. Gates open at 2 p.m., and music starts around 3. General admission tickets are $20 at the gate.

v All AmeriCon, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: A handful of comics industry insiders, including “Iron Man” artist Bob Layton, will greet fans, and more than 125 vendors will offer comic books, toys and art at Covelli Centre. Admission is $10.

v Slovenefest, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.: All things Slovene, including live music and food, and the crowning of Miss SNPJ, at this ethnic gathering at the SNPJ Recreation Center, 270 Martin Road, just over state line east of Petersburg.

v Forecast, 3-6 p.m.: A Jazz in the Park series concert, outdoors at B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

“The Nineties” (9 p.m., CNN): From producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, “The Nineties” is a seven-part documentary series that will put you in a nostalgic mood with memories of the decade’s iconic moments and influential people. First up: Popular TV shows, including “Seinfeld,” “My So-Called Life” and “The Sopranos.”

“The Defiant Ones” (9 p.m., HBO): This documentary series takes a deep dive into the careers – and unlikely partnership – of influential music industry titans Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Included: Interviews with, among others, Snoop Dogg, Bruce Springsteen, Gwen Stefani, Bono, Eminem, Stevie Nicks, Kendrick Lamar, Tom Petty and Lady Gaga.

‘Central Park Five’ docu-series planned

NEW YORK

Netflix says the historic case of the Central Park Five will be brought to life in a limited series to be written and directed by Ava DuVernay.

The five-episode drama will be based on the true story of five teenagers from Harlem who were wrongly convicted of raping Trisha Meili while she was jogging in New York’s Central Park. Each part will focus on one of the five teens, spanning from spring 1989, when each was first questioned, to 2014, when they were exonerated.

There was no announcement of cast members or a release date. DuVernay’s credits include the feature film “Selma” and the drama series “Queen Sugar.”

Martial arts center sets open house

ATA Martial Arts, 420 S. Canfield Niles Road, will have a free open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, featuring demonstrations on bully prevention, self- defense and confidence building, as well as child safety kits from local law enforcement.
