Dublin Grange campers in ‘Elf’
Staff report
CANFIELD
The Dublin Grange Theatre Company’s annual summer camp will offer an intensive experience in which students are exposed to all aspects of musical theater. The camp starts Monday and runs week days from 6 to 9 p.m. through July 27. Dublin Grange is at 6571 Fairground Blvd.
The camp will culminate in a production of “Elf Jr.,” a musical based on the film of the same name, at 7:30 p.m. July 28 and 29.
The cost is $100 per student for grades 5-12. Children in grades K-4 are invited to be part of the camp as “Santa’s Helpers,” where they will assist with prop and scenery creation and be part of the show’s chorus. Cost for these students is $25.
All students enrolled in the program will receive a free T-shirt and one complimentary show ticket.
To register for camp, go to dublingrangetheatre.com. Tickets for “Elf Jr.” are available by calling 330-518-4064 or at the door 30 minutes prior to show time.
“Elf Jr.” will be directed by Stacy Anderson and choreographed by Kait Carson. The Dublin Grange Theatre is the area’s only theater organization featuring children as performers and behind-the-scenes artists. Students with or without experience are exposed to the audition process, casting, staging and blocking, lighting/sound instruction, stage managing, scenery creation and painting and stage managing instruction.
Also coming this year at Dublin Grange Theatre will be a production of “The Hundred Dresses” Nov. 17-19. The musical is an adaptation of Eleanor Estes’ Newberry Award-winning story about bullying and its aftermath. A coloring contest for all area schools is planned and one school will win a free show.
