Poland village to embark on second round of road resurfacing
Staff report
POLAND
The village is getting ready to begin the second round of a five-year road resurfacing program.
These roads will be repaved this summer: College Street from Elm Street to the Poland Municipal Forest entrance; Hamilton Avenue from state Route 170 to 10th Street; Island Drive from 170 to Sheridan Road; Edgewater Drive from 170 to the village limits; and Michigan Avenue from College Street to Ohio Avenue.
The goal is to finish repaving by the start of the school year, officials said. The village will go out to bid in the coming weeks.
“We are moving on these things,” said Councilwoman Linda Srnec at a meeting Wednesday, at which the plans were discussed. “I know it’s hard when it’s your street and you’re waiting for it to be done.”
Village voters approved a five-year, 2-mill levy in November 2015 that generates approximately $115,000 annually for road resurfacing.
