Vandalism at Youngstown City Schools

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown police found more than 40 broken windows at two Youngstown city schools Monday.

According to the police report, officers found windows and door windows cracked and shattered.

Reports said the damage to the east side of the Programs of Promise at Wilson building and all around the Taft Elementary building appear to have been caused by a pellet or BB gun.

The vandalism will result in about $20,000 in damage, said district spokeswoman Denise Dick.

Although windows weren’t shattered all the way through and don’t need boarded up, they do need to be replaced, she said.

A crime lab officer took multiple pictures of the damage to both schools.

“We’re cooperating with police in the investigation in whatever way we can,” Dick said.
