Top Hat presents theater workshop

YOUNGSTOWN

Top Hat Productions is taking applications for its summer youth theater workshop, which begins July 13, at the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road. Workshop sessions will continue July 20 and 27 and Aug. 3 and 10, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Children age 6 to 12 are welcome to attend, but 6-year-olds must be first-grade students. Applications are taken on a first-come basis. The workshop is free and a hot meal is served at each session.

Students will learn stage presence and stage performance, but the workshop’s main goal is that participants have fun while gaining self-esteem. The program culminates with a stage production Aug. 13. To register, call 330-307-8384.

Visual arts camp at Butler museum

YOUNGSTOWN

The Butler Institute of American Art is accepting applications for its two-week Summer Visual Arts Day Camp from July 18-21 and July 25-28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum’s Trumbull branch, 9350 E. Market St., Howland. Campers receive instruction in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. They must be between age 8 and 12 by July 18, attend the registration on the first day from 9 to 10 a.m., and commit to attending all eight days of camp.

Parents or guardians can request a registration form for their children by sending an email with the subject “Summer Visual Arts Day Camp” to mkamenitsa@butlerart.com or joycemistovich@butlerart.com, or by calling 234-228-8505. The fee is $135. Families with more than one child attending camp will receive a 10 percent discount. Free enrollment is available on a limited basis.

Campers will spend their last morning of camp touring the Butler’s main museum, followed by lunch. An exhibition of the campers’ work will be displayed at the Trumbull branch on the last day of the program, July 28, from 1-2 p.m.
