Report: Man shot up car, house, smashed gas meter

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a man fired several shots at a car early Sunday before pushing it into an East Dewey Avenue home and damaging a natural gas meter.

Officers were called about 12:45 a.m. to the 900 block of East Dewey Avenue, where they found a Cadillac in the middle of the road heavily damaged, another car heavily damaged by gunfire, a hole in the side of a house and a strong smell of natural gas.

Reports said the owner of the car that was fired upon told police she had been in an argument with a man earlier in the evening and he threatened to shoot up her house.

As she was standing outside next to her car reports said a dark colored vehicle came up the street, smashed into the rear of the Cadillac and the driver of the vehicle began shooting from a gun.

The woman ran into her home as the car was pushed into the house, reports said. There were four women in the car but they were not injured.

Reports did not say how the Cadillac was returned to the street and extracted from the house.

Crews from the fire department and Dominion East Ohio were called to fix the gas meter. Reports noted that none of the people involved in the incident called police.

Those calls came from residents on the street, reports said.
