June Cruze sales down, but 2017 sales better than last year
LORDSTOWN — Although Chevrolet Cruze sales were down this June compared to last June, the Cruze’s year-to-date sales are up, according to the latest sales numbers released by GM.
GM delivered 12,828 Cruzes in June, compared to 18,666 last June, which represents a 31.3 percent decrease. In the first six months of this year, GM delivered 105,188 Cruzes, versus 86,731 delivered in the first six months of 2016.
The sales numbers include both the Lordstown-built Cruze sedan, as well as the Cruze hatchback that is built in Mexico.
Today marks the start of a three-week layoff at the Lordstown plant. The layoff period is due to a slowdown in Cruze sedan sales.
Overall, GM reported total June U.S. retail sales of 202,908 vehicles, down about 3 percent from June 2016.
