v Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day, noon to 9 p.m.: This annual festival in downtown Niles starts with a parade at 1 p.m., and includes wiener dog races, the Miss Niles pageant, a reptile show, music by Jimmy and the Cool Cats and the Sensations and more.

v Mesopotamia Ox Roast, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Last day to grab a roast-beef sandwich and peruse the giant antique and flea market. It’s at the intersection of state Routes 534 and 67.

v Val’s Polka Party, 1 to 7 p.m.: Del Sinchak, John Gabriele and Mikey D bands will perform ($10) at the SNPJ Rec Center, 270 Martin Road, SNPJ, just south of Bessemer, Pa.

v Nathan James Review, 3 to 7 p.m.: Jazz in the Park series concert outdoors at the B&O Station grounds near downtown Youngstown.

v Packard Dixieland Band, 1 p.m.: A free concert at the South Lawn band shell at Packard Music Hall in Warren.

“America In Color” (8 p.m., Smithsonian): From Prohibition and the Jazz Age, to the moon landing and the birth of rock and roll, many major 20th century moments have only been chronicled in black and white footage. “America In Color” changes all that by using modern technology to transform them into vibrant color.

Photo exhibition at JCC gallery

YOUNGSTOWN

An exhibition of photography by Liberty native Jaclyn Silverman will open Thursday at the Jewish Community Center art gallery, 55 Gypsy Lane.

Silverman’s exhibition, “Second of Something,” explores connections between people and places, sense of belonging, and the subtle stories captured in still images.

It will remain on display through Aug. 24.

Silverman received her bachelor’s degree in 2013 from Ohio State University and a master of fine arts degree in 2016 from the Art Institute of Chicago.

She has exhibited at galleries in Youngstown, Chicago and Boulder, Colo.

An opening reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Band festival for Rescue Mission

BERLIN CENTER

Five local bands will be featured in the second annual Winds at the Winery music festival next Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Mastropietro Winery, 14558 Ellsworth Road.

Admission is free, but there will be a raffle and donations will be accepted to benefit the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

The music will start at 1 p.m. with Take 5 Brass Quintet, followed by Gem City Brass at 2 p.m.; Ashtabula Brass Band at 3 p.m.; the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band at 4 p.m.; the Austintown Fitch Alumni Jazz Band at 5 p.m.; and the Canfield Community Concert Band at 6 p.m.

The concert will end with the combined groups performing “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Food and beverages will be available, and concert-goers may bring lawn chairs and blankets.
