WARREN

Dominique Seen, 18, of Parkman Road Northwest, is in the Trumbull County jail awaiting arraignment Monday on seven counts of rape.

He was arrested Friday afternoon by Warren police, accused of having inappropriate conduct with four juveniles, all under age 13.

He will be arraigned in Warren Municipal Court. If convicted, he could get 70 years in prison.

Men report robbery on South Side

YOUNGSTOWN

A pair of Pittsburgh men told police Thursday they were robbed about 4:30 p.m. by several men after stopping at a home in the 800 block of East Philadelphia Avenue to ask for directions.

The men told police someone with a gun told them to get out of their van and they did, running away and calling 911 from South Avenue.

When police went back to the home, the van was there, but the victims told police the people who robbed them were not around.

The victims claimed $46,000 worth of home theater equipment that was in the van was missing.

North Road to close

HOWLAND

North Road, between Atlantic Street and East Market Street, will be closed due to culvert replacement July 10-15.

The recommended detour route is west on Atlantic, south on Genessee Avenue and east on East Market.

Bridge replacement

SOUTHINGTON

Beginning July 10, County Line-Turnpike Road between Strop-Hickox Road and state Route 534 will be closed through mid-October for a bridge replacement, the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced.

The detour will be state Route 534 to Easterly Road to Stroup-Hickox Road.

Beginning Wednesday, Corinth Court Road in Vernon and Johnston townships between Fisher-Corinth and Davis-Peck roads will be closed through early October for a bridge replacement.

The detour will be state Route 5 to Mayburn Corners Road to Burnett East Road.

Free workshops

WARREN

This summer, Kent State University at Trumbull and its Gelbke Library have assembled two free workshops to help individuals who are interested in starting a non-profit and attaining grants.

“Is Starting a Nonprofit Right for You?” will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 11 in room 117, Kent State Trumbull’s Technology Building, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW.

Dave Holmes, Cleveland Lead at Foundation Center Midwest, will help participants understand the business aspects of a nonprofit, the vital role of nonprofits in our community, advantages and disadvantages of forming a nonprofit, how to get started and common misconceptions and alternatives to starting a nonprofit.

Benefit dinner in memory of Dr. Ohr

YOUNGSTOWN

A benefit dinner in memory of Dr. Joseph S. Ohr, Mahoning County forensic pathologist and deputy coroner, who died of pancreatic cancer April 22, will begin at 11 a.m. July 9 at the Brickhouse Tavern, 958 E. Midlothian Blvd.

A $10 ticket includes dinner and live entertainment.

Proceeds will go to a scholarship in Dr. Ohr’s memory for full-time students majoring in forensic science at Youngstown State University and to Hospice House.
