Adler files for judge

GIRARD

Jeffrey Adler has filed to run for a second term as Girard Municipal Court judge. If elected in November to the full-time position, Adler would preside over a court that handles cases from Girard, Hubbard, Liberty and Vienna. The judge cited achievements in his first term, including implementation of a suspended-license intervention program and a theft-diversion program. Additionally, the Ohio Supreme Court has granted the court certification for its drug recovery program.

Adler is so far the only candidate to file for the office. The filing deadline is Wednesday for the May 2 primary.

Voter information

POLAND

Regional representatives for the Ohio secretary of state will be at the Poland library branch, 311 S. Main St., from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 9 to give area residents voters registration forms and election information, as well as answer questions and provide materials about the office’s business services division.

Office representatives will be at the Wellsville Carnegie Public Library in Wellsville from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday for the same purposes.

Woman assaulted

WARREN

A city woman, 21, was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for a large laceration near her eye suffered during an aggravated burglary at 10:30 p.m. Friday at an apartment on Roman Street Southeast.

The woman said she was visiting at the home when an ex-girlfriend came to the home to retrieve a smoking pipe. The victim said she went to the suspect’s car and gave her the pipe, and the suspect and two other women kicked and punched her.

The victim went back to her friend’s apartment, but the three women forced their way inside and continued to assault her.

Police found blood and chunks of hair inside the apartment.
