BOARDMAN

Two suspects who were arrested on charges of armed robbery at Pizza Joe’s are facing charges related to multiple other business break-ins in the township.

Police said they believe that Robert McGuire Jr., 26, Centervale Avenue, and Alyssa Heydle, 18, of Williamson Avenue in Youngstown, are responsible for incidents reported recently at three businesses in Southern Park Mall.

In a Jan. 12 break-in at the Dairy Queen in the mall’s food court, McGuire and Heydle face one charge each of felony-five breaking and entering. In that instance, an employee reported that nearly $1,000 was found to be missing from a safe when the restaurant opened Jan. 13.

Additionally, McGuire and Heydle face charges of breaking and entering in a break-in reported Jan. 15 by Boeau Belle Salon, also located in the mall. An estimated $250 was taken from a safe, according to a police report. McGuire also is charged with felony-four safe-cracking in that case.

The pair also face misdemeanor attempted breaking-and-entering charges for an incident at Frullati Cafe in the mall. An employee reported Jan. 20 that he discovered damage to a door, indicating that someone tried to force entry. The attempt was unsuccessful, and nothing was reported missing, according to a report.

According to police reports, McGuire is employed at Coney Island at the mall.

McGuire and Heydle also are charged in an armed robbery that occurred Saturday night at the Pizza Joe’s at 6810 Market St. They are each charged with a count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

The suspects appeared in Mahoning County Area Court on Tuesday for arraignment. Heydle is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday. McGuire is scheduled to be back Feb. 28.

Mahoning County jail records indicate that Heydle posted bail Tuesday night. McGuire remained jailed Wednesday.

Court records indicate that McGuire was convicted last year on misdemeanor assault and theft charges. Both cases originated in the township.
