Naked Trees

When: Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m.

What: The trees may be bare but you can still tell who’s there. Join us on a brisk hike through the park and learn how you can identify trees even when there are no leaves.

Where: Lily Pond Parking Area

WINTER TREE ID

When: Sunday, 2 to 3:30 p.m.

What: Learn to identify trees without looking at their leaves. Bark, buds and branches are sufficient indicators to separate one species from another.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

Cost: Free

Details: This is a great program for amateur naturalists or those interested in finding maple trees to make syrup. Takes place indoors and outdoors. Registration required by Friday.

Men’s Garden Club Talks

When: Wednesday, 7 to 8 p.m.

What: Explore the awe-inspiring aspects of Fellows Riverside Gardens, including its collections and celebrations throughout the year. February’s focus is on witch hazels.

What: Join us in exploring ways to make your garden attractive, appealing, alluring and fascinating. Books of our speakers will be available for purchase.

Orchid Repotting Clinic

When: Feb. 8, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

What: Bring your orchids for care and nurturing and have the experts repot them for you.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens

Cost: $5

Details: $5 per plant up to 4-inch diameter pot. Includes pot and orchid bark. Additional charge of $2 per additional pot inch for orchids needing larger pots. Additional pots and orchid bark mix may be purchased. Drop-in.
