BOARDMAN
A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Mahoning County Area court Feb. 28 for a Youngstown man and woman arrested Tuesday, accused of a weekend armed robbery at Pizza Joe’s.
Robert McGuire, 26, of Centervale Avenue and Alyssa Heydle, 18, of Williamson Avenue, were arrested in Struthers. They entered the restaurant on Market Street at 8:30 p.m., according to a police report.
McGuire approached the employee at the counter with a gun demanding money while Heydle went behind the counter to open the cash register.
The two stole a total of $412 from the restaurant, including its bank deposit, and escaped in a vehicle, police said.
Township police said Struthers police arrested the couple while they were breaking into a house in Struthers on Saturday. After questioning, township officers discovered they were connected to the robbery Friday.
Both are charged with aggravated robbery, attempt to commit an offense and two counts of breaking and entering. McGuire is also charged with safe-cracking.
