Trump summons senators to discuss Supreme Court

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has invited the Senate leadership to the White House to discuss the vacancy on the Supreme Court.

That's the word from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The Kentucky Republican said today that he, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the leaders of the Judiciary Committee would meet with the president later this afternoon.

The court has had one vacancy since last February when Justice Antonin Scalia died. McConnell and Republicans refused to consider former President Barack Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland.
