Three people arrested on gun charges over the weekend were arraigned Monday in municipal court.
DeAndre Fant, 29, of Detroit Avenue, was arrested after police found a pistol and a clip of ammunition under the seat in a car he was a passenger in that was pulled over about 7:55 p.m. Sunday at Wick and Madison avenues.
Two women, Jalazia Green, 20, of Tod Lane and the driver, Tamika Croft, 24, of Blacklick, each were arrested on drug charges after police found two doses of suspected heroin, a bag of suspected cocaine and 15 bags of suspected marijuana. Reports said when police went to pull the car over, they saw Green, who was in the front passenger’s seat, throw a bag out of the window. Police found the bag and later found it had heroin in it.
Croft did not have a valid license, so the car was searched, which was when the gun and drugs were found. Police also found $1,237 cash in the car.
Green was charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of heroin and cocaine, and Croft faces charges of possession of heroin and traffic charges. Fant is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia for a scale police said he had.
Green was out on bail after being arrested in a vice squad raid Thursday. She managed to post her bail on drug charges in that case, court records show.
Bonds for the three after their arraignments Monday were unavailable.
About 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Dennis Collier, 40, of East Philadelphia Avenue, was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon after police found a revolver while investigating an underage-drinking complaint at a South Avenue bar. A patron told police they saw Collier brandishing the gun in a restroom. He does not have a valid concealed-weapon permit, reports said.
Collier’s bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.
Arraigned on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle was Ta Lawrence Hall, 22, of Delaware Avenue. Hall was arrested just after midnight Saturday after a car he was a passenger in was pulled over on the North Side. Reports said when police searched the car there was a handgun within reach of Hall as well as some ammunition. His bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.
About 2:50 p.m. Friday Maurice Clinkscale, 23, of Gypsy Lane was arrested after a vehicle chase in the 2500 block of Fifth Avenue. Reports said police tried to pull over a car Clinkscale was driving on Dearborn Avenue for speeding but instead he led an officer on a chase through several North Side streets before a supervisor called off the chase.
A couple of minutes later, however, officers spotted the car on Selma Avenue with the doors open. Police set up a perimeter and found Clinkscale behind a garage on Fifth Avenue. Reports said Clinkscale had three bags of suspected heroin on him and inside the car, they found 65 rounds of 9 mm ammunition. Police retraced his steps and found a semiautomatic handgun, also on Fifth Avenue.
Clinkscale’s bond was set at $35,000 on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, fleeing and eluding and possession of heroin.
The arrests, along with two others over the weekend, gave the police six guns seized for the weekend.
