Funds for repairs

COLUMBUS

The state Controlling Board on Monday released $88,995 for repairs to the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor on Wood Street.

The funding, through the Ohio History Connection, will go toward the costs of replacing soffits at the center, according to documents. The work is being completed by Roofing Services LLC of Youngstown.

Food and clothing

YOUNGSTOWN

Alpha and Omega First Baptist Church, 3120 Winton Ave., will have a lunch, bag of groceries and clothing giveaway from 11 a.m. to noon today. Recipients must bring photo identification.

Woman arraigned

WARREN

A woman with a long arrest record was arraigned Monday on a felony robbery charge, accused of hitting a man in the head with a club several times after inviting him to her home early Jan. 1.

Michelle Enderton, 44, of Blair Street Northwest, remains in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. She has been booked there 75 times since 1995. Many of the charges are related to theft and drugs. She was arrested on a warrant Saturday.

The victim, 57, of Cortland, said he gave Enderton a ride from Big Mike’s bar on North Park Avenue to Enderton’s home.

The man said he and Enderton were drinking, and Enderton went to the bedroom and came out with the club, police said. Enderton and a male in the home took his wallet and phone, a report said. He drove to a bar and called police.

He had lacerations on his head and was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment.

Cause of fire probed

WELLSVILLE

The Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire that killed two people, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ- TV reports. Frank Pusateri, 65, and his wife, Edith, 57, appear to have died in a blaze at their Clark Avenue home Sunday morning. Several pets also died in the fire.

Multivehicle crash

BRACEVILLE

One person was hospitalized after a multivehicle traffic accident at a busy Braceville intersection.

Reports came in at about 1:40 p.m. Monday that two cars, a pickup truck, and a tractor-trailer had collided at the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 534, according to a report by 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Witnesses say the pickup truck was struck by the tractor-trailer.

Facing drug charges

BOARDMAN

A New Springfield man will be arraigned at the Mahoning County Area Court at 8:30 a.m. today facing heroin and cocaine drug charges.

According to a police report, police pulled over a vehicle for a broken headlight at 2 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Walgreens on Market Street. The driver, identified as Brandon Hill, 22, of East Garfield Road, reportedly was nervous and jittery. Police asked him to leave the vehicle to search him, and he complied. Officers said they found three envelopes of what Hill admitted was cocaine. A search of the car also revealed a small bag of what Hill also admitted was heroin.

Police charged Hill with two counts of drug possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trustees to meet

Brookfield Township trustees will have a special meeting with an executive session to discuss personnel at 7 tonight at 6844 Strimbu Drive.

Knolls meeting today

YOUNGSTOWN

The Lincoln Knolls Community Watch will have a community meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the East Branch Library at 430 Early Road. The featured guest will be a representative from the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp.

Lordstown meeting

The Lordstown Board of Public Affairs will have a special meeting at 4 p.m. today at the administration building, 1455 Salt Springs Road.

Finance meeting

WARREN

The Warren City Council Finance Committee will meet at 5 p.m. today in the council caucus room, municipal justice building, 141 South St. SE.

Companies sentenced

PITTSBURGH

Two Slippery Rock, Pa., companies have been sentenced to three years’ probation and will each forfeit to the United States $500,000 after being convicted of introducing adulterated and misbranded cheese products into interstate commerce, the U.S. attorney announced.

U.S. District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentences on Universal Cheese & Drying, Inc. and International Packing, LLC.

The defendants packaged and sold cheese under various labels at the Castle Cheese facility in Slippery Rock. The cheese was distributed through retail, food service and wholesale customers nationwide.
