Mercer County dogs wanted as therapy companions

CONNEAUT LAKE, PA.
Become part of Paws Hand Delivered/Alliance of Therapy Dogs and share your special canine companion with those in a variety of situations around the community.
The 45-plus therapy dogs are involved in sharing their love with individuals throughout Mercer and Crawford counties.
To be tested, a dog must be at least 1 year of age, and the handler must own or have had a close relationship with the dog for a minimum of three months before testing.
Here is what is needed before the scheduled evaluation:
Go to www.therapydogs.com for Alliance of Therapy Dogs, formerly Therapy Dogs Inc., located in Cheyenne, Wyo.
On the ATD website, download the papers titled How to Become a Therapy Dog.
Follow the requirements and get the health paper signed by the veterinarian and bring to the testing a copy of the rabies certificate and proof of a fecal check in the past year. Complete all necessary paperwork on the papers downloaded.
A 4-foot leash also is needed.
The next testing date will take place at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at Conneaut Lake Bark Park, East Side, Conneaut Lake. Interested dog owners must schedule an appointment time to be tested. To schedule an appointment for testing, contact Robin Peterson at 814-425-7185.
