YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested two people on weapons charges in separate incidents Thursday.

Bria McCall, 21, was arrested about 6:05 p.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Hawthorne Street on the South Side after a fight with another woman.

Reports said before police arrived, a woman there stunned McFall in the stomach with an electronic stun weapon and fled. McCall was sitting in a car when police arrived, and when officers went to search it for a gun, she tried to throw an officer out of the way, reports said.

Police managed to get McCall under control, but as they did, several of her family members were on the porch screaming at officers, reports said.

The woman with the stun gun was not found, reports said. Inside the car, police found a pink 9 mm handgun.

She was arraigned in municipal court Friday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Her bond was set at 10 percent of $7,500. She has no prior criminal record.

About 10:05 p.m., Dez’Meon Allen, 18, of East Florida Avenue on the South Side, was arrested on weapons charges after police on patrol heard gunshots on East Florida and stopped to investigate.

Reports said Allen was walking nearby and when police asked to talk to him, he ran away.

He was soon spotted trying to run away at East Florida and Rush Boulevard, which is where police caught him.

Reports said police dog Majo found a .380-caliber handgun where Allen was running behind a garage in the 200 block of East Florida. Allen said he found the gun, but denied firing it, police said.

Allen was arraigned on charges of obstructing official business and carrying a concealed weapon. His bond was set at $10,000.
