Chase suspect arrested on city’s North Side

YOUNGSTOWN

Police charged a Gypsy Lane man with carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons while under a disability, drug possession and failure to comply while fleeing and eluding resulting in a crash after a pursuit through the North Side Friday afternoon.

An officer stopped the car on Martin Luther King Boulevard, and the driver, later identified as Maurice Clinkscale, 23, fled, according to a police report.

The chase continued on Dearborn, Burlington and Beck streets to Gypsy Lane, where Clinkscale crashed into a vehicle and drove through oncoming traffic. It ended when police found the vehicle abandoned on Selma Avenue, then discovered Clinkscale behind a Gypsy Lane residence.

Police searched the area, car and suspect and found heroin, a handgun and ammunition. The report says Clinkscale admitted driving with a passenger known only as “James” who he helped escape, and for whom police are still searching.
