Youngstown police arrest 2 on weapons charges


YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested two people Thursday on weapons charges in separate incidents.

Bria McCall, 21, was arrested about 6:05 p.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Hawthorne Street on the South Side after a fight with another woman. Reports said before police arrived, a woman there stunned another woman in the stomach with an electronic stun weapon and fled.

McCall was sitting in a car when police arrived and when police went to search it for a gun, she tried to throw an officer out of the way, reports said. Inside the car police found a pink 9mm gun inside the car. McCall was arrested on weapons and resisting arrest charges.

About 10:05 p.m. Dez'Meon Allen, 18, of East Florida Avenue on the South Side, was arrested on weapons charges after police on patrol heard gunshots on East Florida and stopped to investigate.

Reports said Allen was walking nearby and when police asked to talk to him, he ran away. He hid for awhile but was caught at East Florida and Rush Boulevard.

Reports said police dog Majo found a .380-caliber handgun where Allen was running. Reports said Allen said he found the gun but denied firing it.
