A variety of mental-health professionals were among the estimated 60 people who attended a program Thursday afternoon at the Newport branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County to honor Daybreak’s 40th anniversary. The facility assists youngsters 11 to 18 by:
Offering short-term food, shelter and clothing.
Encouraging the resolution of family conflicts via counseling and referrals.
Working to strengthen family relations while encouraging stable living conditions.
Reuniting youngsters with their families or, if reunification efforts can’t be made, providing placement in the safest and most appropriate housing possible .
Alleviating the immediate crises clients may face and offering protection in cases of alleged neglect and abuse.
Gives guidance and encouragement to young people as they try to make positive choices with their lives.
