Suspected bank robber surrenders to police

NILES — Craig R. Honkonen, 35 of South Cleveland Avenue, is in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond, charged with the Dec. 22 robbery of the Farmer’s National Bank in downtown Niles.

If convicted, Honkonen could get up to eight years in prison. Kara Stanford served as acting judge for Honkonen’s arraignment Wednesday in Niles Municipal Court.

Honkonen surrendered to police Tuesday after the Niles Police Department posted his name and photo on its Facebook page.
