Suspect surrenders

NILES

Craig R. Honkonen, 35, of South Cleveland Avenue, who was wanted in the Dec. 22 robbery of the Farmers National Bank in downtown Niles, has surrendered to police, according to Niles Police Department’s website late Tuesday night.

The police department and Youngstown office of the FBI investigated the robbery, and they believe Honkonen was the robber.

Nor further information was available late Tuesday night.

Drug charges

Police arrested a man Friday who claimed he was using amphetamines to treat acid reflux, according to a report.

Dustin Culp, 34, of Lisbon, was driving a truck with expired plates. While searching his vehicle, police reportedly found amphetamine pills in a vial. Culp told police a friend had given them to him to help with acid reflux.

Culp is charged with felony possession of drugs.
