Township police arrested a man and woman on theft charges Tuesday.

According to a report, police accuse Jaclyn K. Miller, 38, of Youngstown, of taking $220 worth of merchandise from the J.C. Penney Store at 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Police also arrested Richard Gilbert, 42, of Poland, who was driving the car Miller left the store in, according to the report. He is charged with complicity to theft. The pair will appear in Mahoning County Area Court on Wednesday.

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a man burst into a woman’s South Side home early Tuesday, beat her and took her phone.

Police were called about 1:25 a.m. to a home in the 500 block of West Warren Avenue, where the woman told police the man told her she would get her phone back when he returned some rings he wanted. He threatened to kill her, then left the house, reports said. Reports said the woman had fresh cuts on her lip and she wanted to press charges.

Sertick to announce candidacy for judge

YOUNGSTOWN

Anthony Sertick, a Youngstown Municipal Court magistrate for nearly 16 years, will announce his candidacy for judge of the Youngstown Municipal Court in the upcoming primary election at 11 a.m. today.

The position is held by retiring Judge Robert Milich. The event will take place at the offices of Keynote Media Group, Commerce Building, 201 E. Commerce St., Suite 199.

Facing drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Bond was set at $50,000 Tuesday for a Pasadena Avenue man who was arraigned in municipal court on a felony cocaine charge.

Reports said officers found 29 grams of suspected cocaine and $792 cash after arresting Marvin Reese, 43, during a traffic stop 5:15 p.m. Saturday at Shady Run Road and Cornell Avenue on the South Side.

Reese also had a small amount of suspected marijuana on him, reports said. Reese had previously served 70 months in prison on a federal cocaine distribution charge, court records show.

Stadium installation moves forward

NORTH LIMA

Things are moving forward for the installation of a new stadium that will be located at the Rominger Sports Complex.

There will be an informational update meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the K-12 Complex auditorium. Attendees will get updates on the project regarding the progress, what is next and what to expect by the fall. Information will be presented by BSHM Architects and Dr. Donald DeChellis, the project’s chairman.
