Showcase planned for business majors

YOUNGSTOWN

The Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University will have a showcase for prospective business majors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 28 in Williamson Hall on Hazel Street on campus.

The program begins with a welcome from university President Jim Tressel at 9:30 a.m.

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about various business majors, internship opportunities and leadership activities in the college. Visiting students will meet faculty and talk with current business students and alumni. Academic advisers also will be on hand to answer questions. Tours of the state-of-the-art, $34 million Williamson Hall will also be provided.

Salem Chamber sets forecast luncheon

SALEM

The Salem Chamber will have its 2017 Economic Forecast Luncheon on Jan. 25 with Joseph E. Besecker, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Emerald Asset Management Inc., as the guest speaker.

The event will take place at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N Ellsworth Ave., with registration beginning at 11:45 a.m.

Cost of the luncheon is $20 for chamber members and $25 for guests.

Networking chapter schedules meeting

The Business Networking International Mahoning Valley Chapter will have a meeting at Denny’s, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, at 7:30 a.m. Thursday .

Featured speaker is Bill Bacho, a financial professional who will discuss life insurance for family and small-business owners. The meeting is open to the public.

Allegiant reports Dec. traffic results

LAS VEGAS

Allegiant Travel Co., the only commercial airline in operation at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna, recently reported its traffic results for December 2016.

In December, the airline reported a 15.4 percent increase in the number of passengers from 839,848 in December 2015 to 969,503 last month.

The airline’s departures increased 19.7 percent to 7,352 last month from 6,142 in December 2015.

The airline also reported its yearly results.

The number of passengers increased 17.6 percent to 11 million from 9 million in 2015. The number of departures increased 19.9 percent year- over-year to 78,747 in 2016 from 65,683 in 2015.
