Volunteers to receive award for community service

YOUNGSTOWN

Ten individuals will receive the 2016 President’s Volunteer Service Award at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newport Library, 3730 Market St.

The award recognizes, celebrates and inspires community service leaders and volunteers. A reception will follow and the event is open to the public.

The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation began awarding President’s Volunteer Service Awards in 2003 to thank and honor community members who inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

A Way With Words Foundation Inc. finds community volunteers each year who help those in need.

Those receiving the 2016 President’s Volunteer Service Award will be Lisa Phillips of Diamond, Ohio; Steve Sinn and Jim Knutti of Austintown; Amy Zell of Brookfield; Tina Orr of Hubbard; Jane Cullen and Dan Cullen of New Bedford, Pa.; Chet Cooper of Canfield; Michael Simon of Poland; and Joni Thompson of Indiana.
